This event is the second of two nights of vocalese hosted by the Jazz Voice area. The term vocalese was coined by jazz critic Leonard Feather to describe the first Lambert, Hendricks, & Ross album in 1958, Sing a Song of Basie. On that album, overdubbing was used so that the three singers using Jon Hendricks' lyrics could replace the entire horn section of the Count Basie Orchestra. The PSU Vocal Collective recreates arrangements from that groundbreaking album and other hits by this legendary vocal jazz trio.
