‘Picture a Scientist’ Film Screening and Q&A

Tuesday February 11th 2025 4:30 PM - 7:00 PM

Join the School of Earth, Environment and Society (SEES) for a screening of Picture a Scientist. The film will go from 4:30-6 p.m., and will be followed by a Q&A with Dr. Jane Willenbring, a geomorphologist whose story is featured in the film.

Picture a Scientist chronicles the groundswell of researchers who are writing a new chapter for women scientists, exposing longstanding discrimination, and leading the way in making science more inclusive. A biologist, chemist and geologist lead viewers on a journey through their own experiences in the sciences, ranging from outright harassment to years of subtle slights. Along the way, from cramped laboratories to spectacular field stations, scientific visionaries, including social scientists, neuroscientists, and psychologists, provide new perspectives on how to make science itself more diverse, equitable, and open to all.
