You are invited to the PSU Technical Communication Meetup! The purpose of the meetup is to create community around technical communication at PSU for students, staff, alums, prospective students and community friends.
On Wednesday, October 4th, we'll be hosting Janaka Jayawardena, IT Director of Maseeh College of Engineering and Computer Science, and the Computer Action Team (CAT) at PSU.
Janaka will talk about CAT (a student volunteer program) and the unique opportunities it presents for ANY student wishing to:
- Get hands-on training with technical and administrative skills within the context of full-scale IT based organizations.
- Connect with experienced veterans in the IT industry.
- Gain a diverse community of friends and professional connections that will last beyond PSU.
- Gain leadership, public speaking, technical writing, graphic design, and video editing skills. For more information, see braindump.cat.pdx.edu.
CAT only admits students one time within a year at their annual orientation, currently scheduled for a few days after our meetup. Consider joining us to learn more about what they do, and what you could learn from CAT, if you'd like to be a part of the team.
Ps: Nathan Barbarick, one of our MPTW students who has been actively involved in CAT this past year, will be present to talk about his experiences and how much he has benefitted from his time at CAT.
The in-person event will happen in FMH 319. Hot pizza will be served at 5:15!
