The 2025 Cleantech Challenge brought together some of the brightest minds in sustainability and innovation at Portland State, showcasing groundbreaking solutions to environmental challenges. Hosted by the Center for Entrepreneurship , this year’s competition featured a lineup of impressive teams, each striving to make a lasting impact on the future of clean technology.


1st Place: CyberArm Dynamics

Taking home the top prize, CyberArm Dynamics wowed the judges with their cutting-edge robotic solution aimed at improving energy efficiency in industrial processes. Their technology promises to revolutionize sustainable manufacturing by optimizing operations and reducing waste.

2nd Place: Plastic Scanner Squad

In second place, Plastic Scanner Squad introduced a portable device that identifies different types of plastics to enhance recycling efforts. Their innovation aims to reduce plastic waste and streamline sorting processes, making recycling more effective and accessible.

3rd Place: Earth Panels

Claiming third place, Earth Panels developed an innovative building material made from recycled waste. Their eco-friendly panels provide a sustainable alternative to traditional construction materials, reducing the carbon footprint of the building industry.

The journey doesn’t stop here! One of these teams will be representing Portland State at this year's Invent Oregon! The 2025 Invent Oregon competition will be hosted at the University of Portland this year. This statewide competition is an opportunity for student entrepreneurs to take their ideas to the next level with funding, mentorship, and exposure.
