Every week during the academic year, Currently celebrates faculty and staff accomplishments, including appearances on panels, presentations, recent publications or performances, and research grants.
- Devon Allen, head of the acting program and School of Music and Theater faculty, directed and filmed a monologue recently written by Pulitzer finalist playwright Will Eno. Eno is in the process of putting together a film reflecting the myriad experiences of a character named Mary as she navigates uncertain terrain.
- Shirley Jackson, Black Studies faculty, was featured in the article “Portland Mayor Facing Resignation Calls, Questioned Leadership as Election Looms” in the Oregonian on Sept. 6.
- Susan Kirtley, English faculty, was featured in conversation with Frederick Luis Aldama in “Susan Kirtley Talks: Lynda Barry, & Feminist Community Building, & the Rhetorical Approach to Comics” for his series “Professor Latinx.”
- Paul Loikit and Andres Holz, geography faculty, and Max Nielsen-Pincus, environmental science and management faculty, were featured on KGW’s “Straight Talk with Laural Porter” in response to the wildfires burning in western Oregon.
- Joel Owens, business faculty, was a discussant of the paper “How Do Stressors Influence Accountants’ Performance? A Meta-analytical Structural Equations Modelling Analysis” at the Annual Meeting of American Accounting Association in August.
- Mellie Pullman, business faculty, won runner-up for Journal of Supply Chain Management’s 2020 Best Paper Award for the co-authored paper “Business for Society is Society’s Business: Tension Management in a Migrant Integration Supply Chain.” She and her co-authors were recognized as part of an award ceremony at the Academy of Management's annual meeting.
- Anousha Sedighi, world languages and literature faculty, was named the inaugural associate editor of linguistics for the International Journal of Iranian Studies with Taylor & Francis.
- Dara Shifrer, sociology faculty, coordinated the matching of 66 mentors and mentees for the American Sociological Association’s Sociology of Education section.
- Jeremy Spoon, Emergency Management and Community Resilience program director and anthropology faculty, was featured in the article “One-size Does Not Fit All for Post-disaster Recovery, PSU Study Finds,” published by several news organizations.
- Melissa Thompson, sociology faculty, was interviewed for a KGW news story on the recent increase in gun purchases and gun permit applications.
- Hyeyoung Woo, sociology faculty, joined the editorial board for the Journal of Aging Studies.
