Nasir Sheikh


Prior to working with Portland State University, Dr. Nasir Sheikh was Associate Professor in the Department of Technology Management at University of Bridgeport. Dr. Sheikh was a founding tenure-track faculty in the Department of Technology and Society, College of Engineering and Applied Sciences at State University of New York, Korea from 2013 to 2017. He teaches courses such as data science, entrepreneurship, leadership, computer networking, strategic marketing, technology assessment, and quality management. He has taught over twenty-five graduate and undergraduate courses. His research interests include technological innovation and commercialization, technology assessment, decision modeling, and analytics and has over twenty publications. Dr. Sheikh has over thirty-five years of industry experience in building global information and communications technologies (ICT) businesses as an executive in technology management, sales, and marketing. He has served in business leadership roles at Atlas Telecom, UshaComm, CenterSpan Communications, and ACD Systems. Prior to that Dr. Sheikh had technology management and operational roles at AT&T Labs, NorTel, Philips Electronics, and Schlumberger. Prior to academia he was engaged in management consulting on next-generation renewal energy and healthcare technologies. Simultaneously, he was an adjunct professor for teaching courses in international business and marketing and a teaching assistant for courses such as new product development, total quality management, project management tools, science and technology policy, competitive strategies in technology management, strategic planning in engineering management, and intrapreneurship. He holds a Ph.D. degree in Technology Management from Portland State University, an M.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals, and B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from Middle East Technical University.
