Long Tran was born in a small village in Hue City, Vietnam, and came to Oregon as a teen. He attended Cleveland High School before pursuing opportunities to further his education at Portland Community College and then his beloved PSU. He earned his bachelor’s and master’s at Portland State University and has worked here since 2008. Long began his professional work in 2008 as an accountant technician at the University Place Hotel and Conference Center, which is owned and operated by PSU. He advanced to accountant I before joining the PSU College of Liberal Arts and Sciences as a financial analyst and fiscal coordinator, where he remained for three years.

Long soon joined the College of Education and has held a series of titles in his 8+ years here, moving from senior financial analyst and business process to personnel manager, administrative manager, business manager, and senior fiscal officer to his current position. Long has extensive experience in financial accounting, budget planning and analysis, human resources, and organizational operations in higher education.

When he is not working, Long loves spending time with his family and playing soccer. He plays on both competitive and recreational teams. Long met his wife, Anh Thu, in 2008. They married in 2009 and now have three sons: Lamphong, Raymond, and Isaac.
