Special Education - College of Education

Brenna K. Wood, PhD, BCBA-D, LBA (OR), is an Assistant Professor of Practice in the Special Education Department and provides programmatic support for the Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) Program and the Certificates of Completion in Autism here at Portland State University (PSU). In addition, she is the Course Coordinator for the Mt. Hood Kiwanis Camp (MHKC) Capstone.

Prior to joining PSU in September 2019, she spent a year providing ABA services within home and clinic settings in Portland, OR. From 2009-2018, she was a special education faculty member at Lehigh University in Bethlehem, PA. She is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst at the doctoral level (BCBA-D) and received her PhD in Special Education from the University of Arizona. She received a M.Ed. in Early Childhood Special Education from Peabody College at Vanderbilt University and her BA from Portland State University.

Her interest in early childhood special education grew out of a passion for working with young children, their families and teachers. The majority of her work and research has focused on the use of positive behavior supports within early childhood settings.

Some personal fun facts, Brenna completed her UNST Capstone at Mt. Hood Kiwanis Camp (many many years ago...) and has been a major fan ever since. She loves being outdoors, hiking/backpacking, golfing, and kayaking.
