We are pleased to announce Cassie Hulse as the new director of the Oregon Center for Career Development in Childhood Care and Education (OCCD). She comes to us from thread – Alaska's Child Care Resource and Referral network – where she served as the Alaska System for Early Education Development (SEED) Manager.
Cassie is a dedicated advocate for the field of early childhood care and education (ECE). She has over 15 years of experience as a champion for the development and professionalism of early childhood educators and school-age professionals in Alaska. Her breadth of expertise spans strategic planning, policy implementation, curriculum development and quality assurance within various ECE systems. Cassie has a proven track record of effectively leading and managing programs that enhance the quality of ECE.
Notable contributions include drafting a sustainable 5-year model aimed at improving compensation for the ECE workforce in Alaska and participating in the 2020 revisions of Alaska's Early Learning Guidelines. Cassie has facilitated significant projects impacting the professional development of early educators and is recognized for her role in the leadership team implementing the goals outlined in the Alaska SEED (Systems for Early Education Development) strategic plan. Her skills in organization management, communication, grant and contract management, cross-functional collaboration, strategic planning, and fiscal stewardship have been instrumental to her professional success.
Cassie is committed to fostering confidence and competency within the early childhood and school-age workforce through her leadership and advocacy. She looks forward to learning more about and contributing to Oregon's early childhood system in her new role at PSU.
Outside of work, Cassie enjoys walks with her canine pal, Nala, seeing musicals (Hamilton is a favorite!) and absorbing history through biographies and documentaries.
