Academic Program Delivery Methods

Portland State offers various instructional delivery formats for our academic programs. These delivery formats are specific to the percent of online vs. in-person courses that are regularly offered by  a specific academic program.

Online

The program offers a fully online pathway of courses to complete the degree or certification. Students are charged an  online course fee for each credit hour of online courses.

Flexible

The program offers a partially online pathway of courses to complete the  degree or certification. Students are charged an online course fee for each credit hour of online courses. The remaining courses in the pathway are taught in-person on campus. A program must offer at least 75% of their required courses online to be considered a flexible program.

On Campus

The program offers a pathway of courses with instruction primarily delivered in-person at a  scheduled time. There may be some courses offered online within any given degree path. This is the traditional on-campus learning experience.

At the point of registration students will be able to view the Course Delivery Method for individual courses and make selections based on the course.
