AWARDS, FELLOWSHIPS AND OTHER HONORS

  1. Michael Krochta, graduate student, was an awardee for the National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship Program

PRESENTATIONS, PUBLICATIONS AND EXHIBITIONS

  1. Michael Bowie Avila Ayala, Spanish student, published two poems, “You Can Call Me He/Him, but Not Jesus Cause That’s Not My Name” and “The Things You Can’t Outrun”  in the 2022 issue of The Forum, the journal of the Phi Sigma Iota Foreign Language Honor Society. 
  2. Karina Agbisit, Elliot Bailey, Francisco Cabre, Brenna Ebner, and Jazzminn Morecraft, graduate students, presented their research “Consumer Sentiment of AI-Voiced Audiobooks through Analysis of Online Customer Reviews” to the Audio Publishers Association's research group on March 16. 
  3. Andrea Baron, graduate student, co-authored a study titled “Delivery of Cervical and Colorectal Cancer Screenings During the Pandemic in Community Health Centers: Practice Changes and Recovery Strategies.”
  4. Junjie Chen, graduate student, published a paper titled “A Review of Wildfire Impacts on Stream Temperature and Turbidity Across Scales” in the academic journal Progress in Physical Geography
  5. Hannah Sean Ellefritz, graduate student, served as presider for the session titled “Educational Institutions” at the annual meeting of the Pacific Sociological Association in March in Bellevue, Washington.
  6. Hannah Sean Ellefritz, graduate student, presented “Does Instructional Autonomy Matter? Exploring Teachers’ Job Satisfaction Across School SES and Course Subject” at the annual meeting of the Pacific Sociological Association in March in Bellevue, Washington.
  7. Alexis Guizar-Diaz, graduate student, presented “Left Out to Dry: Understanding the Social Experiences of Groundwater Depletion in Washington State’s Columbia River Basin” in the “Food, Water, Sustainability & Farming in the Climate Crisis” session at the annual meeting of the Pacific Sociological Association.
  8. Anne Johnson, graduate student, presented “‘We Always Got Our Blood’: A Discourse Analysis of Law Enforcement Phlebotomy in the United States” at the annual meeting of the Pacific Sociological Association in March in Bellevue, Washington.
  9. Aishwarya Marathe, French student, published a reflective essay titled “Punjab, un Portrait en Métal” in the 2022 issue of The Forum, the journal of the Phi Sigma Iota Foreign Language Honor Society.
  10. Arun Pallathadka, graduate student, published a paper titled “Urban Sustainability Implementation and Indicators in the United States: A Systematic Review” in the academic journal City and Environment Interactions

    •    The student’s full name

    •    The student’s year and area of study (example: Jane Doe, a junior studying art history)

    •    If applicable, the student’s job, volunteer or research position. For example, if a student won an award for their work as an employee with the PSU Residence Hall Association, their position with residence life would be necessary for the write-up

    •    The full name of the award, honor, scholarship or fellowship the student received

    •    The date the award was given

    •    Any other relevant information about the award, such as length of fellowship, total scholarship amount, location of award ceremony

    •    A horizontal image, if you have one (600x400 pixels)

    •    Links to any other additional information you would like to be included in the write-up, such as news stories; web pages or documents for the awards/scholarships/fellowships; and accessible pages for publications (such as the Amazon listing for a student book available for purchase, or the article's journal web page for an academic publication)
