Lee Shaker, Ph.D. Department Chair

Lee Shaker studies new communication technologies and politics. He has published research in many journals including Public Opinion Quarterly, Political Communication, and the Journal of Communication. Before joining PSU, he received his Ph.D. from the University of Pennsylvania.

I investigate and teach about the multifaceted relationship between sport, technology and contemporary society. My primary focus delves into the cultural significance of sports mega-events, the shifting landscape of digital fandom, and the increasing influence of technology on all aspects of sport.

Lauren Frank

Lauren Frank, Ph.D., Director of Graduate Program

Dr. Lauren Frank specializes in public health communication. Her research examines health campaigns and entertainment-education. She teaches undergraduate and graduate courses on communication theory, research methods, health campaigns, media effects, and risk and strategic communication.

Suldovsky

Dr. Brianne Suldovsky, Associate Professor of Science Communication

Dr. Brianne Suldovsky examines public perception of topics like climate change, GMOs, forensic science, and the search for life in space. She teaches social scientific courses in public engagement with science, risk and strategic communication, and environmental controversies.
