Qing Hu named Dean of Portland State School of Business

Portland State University named Qing Hu as the Marilyn and Gerry Cameron Endowed Dean of the School of Business. Hu currently serves as Dean and Professor of Management in the Koppelman School of Business at Brooklyn College of the City University of New York. He will join PSU on August 1.

“We look forward to welcoming Qing to Portland State in August,” said interim Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs Shelly Chabon. “Qing is a proven leader and his expertise in cybersecurity and the impacts of technology on society and business will be a tremendous addition to the PSU community. I have no doubt that he will take the School of Business to the next level of excellence and expand its vital role as a city and industry partner and community leader.”

Prior to joining Brooklyn College in 2020, Hu served as Senior Associate for Academic Affairs in the Zicklin School of Business at Baruch College of the City University of New York. He also served as Associate Dean for Graduate Programs and Research, Chair of Supply Chain and
Information Systems Department, and Union Pacific Professor in Information Systems
in the Ivey College of Business at Iowa State University.

Hu earned his MS and Ph.D. degrees in Computer Information Systems from the University of Miami and his BE and ME in Mechanical Engineering from Lanzhou University of Science and Technology and the Chinese Academy of Machinery Science and Technology in China.

Chabon expressed her heartfelt thanks to Cliff Allen, who will return to the faculty of the School of Business after serving as Dean for the last eight years. She also offered her deepest gratitude to the School of Business Dean Search Committee which was chaired by Joseph Bull, Dean of the Maseeh College of Engineering and Computer Science.
