Nadia Short — Postbaccalaureate BFA in Graphic Design, 2021

Nadia Short

After twelve years in the Air Force, Nadia Short, a recent post-baccalaureate graduate in Graphic Design, wanted to define the future on her terms. In her last job as an unmanned aerial vehicle pilot, Nadia spent her breaks falling in love with Portland and decided to go back to school to study something that blended her passion for photography and art together.

Before studying graphic design, Nadia said, “I had a totally different idea about graphic design coming into the program. I learned that you can do whatever you want with it.” Following an illustration class with instructor Walker Cahall, she found her niche and got excited about including more illustrative elements in her design. Since Nadia lives in a tiny home, she relied on studio spaces in the Art Building and Art Annex to do her homework. She plans to continue developing her style and aspires to become a freelance designer and to continue her other passion, travel.
