Alexandra Rosa  — BS in Art History, Minor in Art Practice, 2020

Alexandra Rosa

Before Alexandra Rosa was accepted to Portland State, going back to school felt like an impossible task. Maintaining her education while at times working multiple jobs was an uphill battle. Alexandra was grateful that she found so many people at PSU with a passion for helping others.

Alexandra noticed that drive in Alberto McKelligan Hernández, Assistant Professor of Art History, who taught the first class she took at PSU. His engaging courses tied together two of her own passions: Latina studies and art history, and galvanized the direction of her research.

Encouraged by kind educators like McKelligan Hernández, Alexandra graduated from PSU with a B.S. in Art History in the spring of 2020. She is now applying to graduate programs in Art History with aspirations in museum studies, curation, and arts management.

Going forward she hopes to blend her interest in community engagement and non-profit work into a future career where she can promote the work of underrepresented artists and find ways to increase access to the arts.
