Join us for the third annual Serve the City Day, a day of service and fun!
The PSU Alumni Association invites alumni, students and staff to this annual family-friendly event to give back to the campus you love through volunteer projects.
New this year, we will provide lunch after our volunteering time alongside a volunteer fair highlighting ways to give back outside of Serve the City Day, featuring local alumni-affiliated nonprofits.
Below are the three volunteer options we'll have this year, followed by the event schedule. In the registration process, you'll choose the "ticket type" with the name of the volunteer opportunity you'd like to join. Register now!
SOLVE Oregon Trash Pickup
Our largest volunteer event returns! SOLVE Oregon will lead this volunteer activity to beautify our campus and the surrounding neighborhoods by picking up trash. There will be the opportunity to work in groups or venture out independently. Please plan to dress for the weather and wear closed-toe shoes that are good for walking.
ITECK Oak Savanna Tending
Join the Indigenous Traditional Ecological and Cultural Knowledge (ITECK) Program to tend to our on-campus Oak Savanna! This group will be doing weeding, laying down bark chips, and learning about our native plant relatives on the site. Please plan to dress for the weather and wear closed-toe shoes. Gloves and hand tools will be provided, but you are also welcome to bring your own.
SCEC Craft Cards for Seniors
This indoor, accessible opportunity run by the Student Community Engagement Center is a great opportunity to make cards for homebound seniors that will be included in deliveries from Store to Door and Meals on Wheels. Please leave this option open for folks bringing their young children or those who want to volunteer in an indoor space, sitting at a table.
Event Schedule
9:30 am: Gather for coffee, donuts and remarks from PSU President Ann Cudd.
10:30 am: Depart for service projects (all are within walking distance of the Urban Plaza on campus).
12:30 pm: Meet back at the Urban Plaza for included lunch and the Volunteering Fair
