This fall term the PSU faculty will explore innovative teaching practices. They will be diving into the transformative insights of The New College Classroom by Cathy Davidson and Christina Katopodis, in which educators reimagine the college classroom. The book draws on extensive research and real-world examples to demonstrate how active learning, peer collaboration, and experiential approaches can enhance student engagement and success.
We will engage in discussions about the challenges and opportunities of implementing active learning techniques and hear detailed case studies of educators successfully applying active learning in their courses. As an added bonus, all participants will receive a complimentary copy of The New College Classroom, the book selected by the PSU faculty book group for this fall.
Book Group Meetings are 12:00-1:00 pm on the following dates:
October 11: Introduction, Chapters 1-2
October 25: Chapters 3-5
November 8: Chapters 6-8
November 22: Chapters 9-10
December 6: Chapters 11-12, Conclusion
