Interests

Cammie Hering has been active in the Movement to End Violence Against Women & Children in Portland, Oregon since 1983.  She was a psychotherapist in private practice specializing in Adult Survivors of Childhood Trauma for 20 years and then became a Life Coach in January 2009, continuing to support and encourage people to overcome their pasts and define their lives in their own terms. Cammie has been teaching at Portland State University since January 1999.  Her classes include Interpersonal Violence; Children & Interpersonal Violence; Women & Trauma; The Sexual Assault Continuum; and Moving Beyond Trauma.  After more than a decade of teaching, Cammie is increasingly impressed by the range of experience and depth of insight that students bring to her classes and classroom discussions.  These experiences have prompted Cammie to appreciate the classroom experience as collaborative and dynamic.
