Salutations! Teaching and studying with the German Section of the Department of World Languages and Literatures at PSU has been a real pleasure thus far and I am looking forward to a stellar second half of the program. I am grateful to be pursuing an MAT in German, which also allows me to explore and integrate interesting and useful concepts in the Educational Leadership and Policy Department, as well as delight in ideas about quality urban planning and design, sustainable living, art, and other disciplines. I try to bring fun and pragmatism into the classroom as much as possible.
When not teaching German I can be found leading walking tours in downtown Portland, tending vegetables at our friends’ backyard lawn-turned-organic-community-garden, reading books, going to parks with my wife & daughter, and bicycling everywhere. Recently I had the honor of leading the first-ever “Pedalpalooza” ride conducted entirely in German, which explored themes related to German, Austrian, and Swiss influence right here in Portland. Additionally, this year was my second opportunity to lead a walking tour through downtown Portland, as part of the outstanding German-language immersion program here PSU.
