Urban Studies | Research Requirements
M.U.S students must prepare a thesis or field research paper. The thesis option requires registration for 6 credits of USP 503. The non-thesis option requires preparation of a substantial research paper( involving registration for 6 credits of USP 501) and successful completion of a field area examination. The M.U.S requires a total of 52 credits in core courses, field area courses and supporting electives and research.
The Ph.D requires completion of a dissertation that makes an original contribution to knowledge. In preparation of the dissertation, students register for at least 27 credits of USP 603. The Ph.D requires a total of 99 credits in core courses, field area courses and supporting electives, and research.
