Assistant/Associate Professor, Transportation Modeling

The Nohad A. Toulan School of Urban Studies and Planning seeks a tenure-track assistant or associate professor to contribute to our teaching and research in transportation modeling and related fields.  Candidates must have a high level of skill and experience in transportation modeling and, ideally, integrated transportation and land use modeling.  The successful candidate will be required to teach at the undergraduate and graduate level and advise graduate students, as well as pursue an active research agenda and be able to attract external funding. We expect that a successful candidate will work closely with efforts in Oregon and beyond to advance the state of the art and practice in the field of transportation modeling and integrated land use and transportation modeling. The Oregon Modeling Steering Committee and the Oregon Modeling Collaborative based at PSU play a large role in those efforts, and the successful candidate would be involved with their activities in a significant way.

Applicants should have a Ph.D. in urban and regional planning, transportation, civil engineering, or other appropriate disciplines or be able to provide assurance of completion of a Ph.D. prior to appointment.  The review of applications will begin December 16, 2011, and the position will remain open until filled. Inquiries can be directed to Professor Jennifer Dill, Search Committee Chair, at jdill@pdx.edu.  Applications, consisting of a letter of interest, c.v., and three letters of recommendation should be sent to the Search Committee Chair, School of Urban Studies and Planning, Portland State University, P.O. Box 751-USP, Portland, OR 97207.  The appointment is scheduled to begin September 16, 2012.
