Saga Topics

Topics are Saga-wide thematic categories corresponding to functional areas of PSU. Where appropriate, content in Saga channels is categorized/filtered by topic(s). For example, items in FAQs and events channels are categorized by appropriate topics to enable filtered presentation in layouts. Content can be categorized by both topic and personality to deliver highly targeted information to specific users.

While in many cases the topic tree branch for a functional area of PSU may closely resemble the navigational structure of that area's Saga site, they need not be identical. Navigation may need to be redundant (provide a link to the same item in two different places) and/or not always hierarchical (provide a link on a site's homepage to an item that's related to a topic further along the branch) and/or not always local (provide a link to a resource on an entirely different site). Topic branches for a site will generally be much more simple than that site's navigational structure. Topic branches may also exist for PSU functional areas that do not have Saga sites, but contribute information to the Saga events channel, etc.
