How do I include a link in the body of a Drupal content management system page?

hyperlink related buttons in the editorThe Insert/edit hyperlink and Unlink buttons are inactive (grayed out) until you select text or place the cursor in an existing hyperlink.

Use the Unlink button to efficiently break links on the page without having to manually select the entire linked phrase or item. Simply set the cursor within the link and click the Unlink button. The Unlink button also works to unlink only the selected text.

Use the Insert/edit hyperlink button to establish new links and edit existing links on the page.

Create and edit links

Create a hyperlink by selecting text in the body window and clicking the Insert/edit hyperlink button. A pop-up window opens.

  • An absolute URL like http://www.sharethis.com/ links to an external Web site.
  • A relative URL like drupal-training (where "drupal-training" is the alias for the destination page) links to a page within your site. Tip: Link to a page in any PSU Drupal site using a relative URL like /ucomm/drupal-training (where "/ucomm/" identifies the site and "drupal-training" is the alias for the destination page).
  • A mailto URL like mailto:granert@pdx.edu generates an email to the identified recipient.
  • A file path like /sites/www.pdx.edu.ucomm/files/identity_at-a-glance.pdf links to a file stored in the site's media folder.

Other fields are optional. Click the Update button to finish the link.
