Academic Advising at PSU
Once admitted to PSU, all undergraduate students are expected to attend an Orientation: Advising & Registration (OAR) session. The OAR sessions provide both first-time freshmen and transfer students with general education and major academic advising, information on the many support services available to students as well as the tools needed to register for classes. Attending an OAR is the best means to ensure a smooth transition to PSU and to guarantee students have access to information about the programs and services the PSU community offers. Newly admitted students may register for an OAR session online (www.pdx.edu/orientation) or by contacting the New Student Orientation office at:

Where do I go for advising after orientation?
Once students have declared a major they should meet with their departmental adviser on a regular basis. Regular advising sessions will ensure students complete all the necessary graduation requirements. The best way to access an adviser in the academic department is by contacting the departmental office listed in the PSU Bulletin or on the PSU Website.
Academic advising for undecided majors
The Undergraduate Advising and Support Center (UASC) works with students who are undecided about their academic major or with new students helping them better understand the general education requirements needed to graduate. The UASC offers a variety of options for advising; for additional information see the UASC Advising Schedule.
