After studying business and engineering, she found her true calling and majored in social work at PSU. She’s also forged strong friendships with students of very different beliefs and backgrounds.

Avel Louise Gordly

The first African American woman elected to the Oregon State Senate, she is a dedicated activist, community leader, PSU professor and author—to name just a few.
