  • What is Supplemental Instruction (SI)?
    • SI is a learning enhancement program designed to organize and improve the ways in which students prepare for class
    • SI is an opportunity for students to participate in a smaller group focusing on those aspects of the class material which may be more difficult and to benefit from alternative study methods.
    • SI is not a substitute for class attendance but rather, as the name suggests, a supplement to it.
    • SI targets historically difficult courses.
  • What are SI sessions and how are they conducted?
    • The SI leader schedules and conducts several group meetings a week
    • During sessions, the SI leader uses interactive learning strategies that encourage involvement, comprehension, and synthesis of the course content
    • Effective study techniques and strategies are incorporated
    • SI sessions are open to all students in the subject and are attended on a voluntary basis.
    • All sessions are conducted on a drop-in basis; there is no need to schedule attendance or to attend every session
