About the Peer Connection Network

The Peer Connection Network is a program that focuses on peer-to-peer connections. This program for transfer and returning students aims to:

  • Help transfer and returning students to smoothly transition to PSU and navigate PSU services and resources.
  • Connect students to the services or programs that fit their needs and interests.
  • Personalize the transfer student experience through connection and support.
  • Increase the student's sense of belonging and community at PSU.
  • Serve as a bridge between resource centers and departments on campus, connecting students with services and resources to facilitate student engagement, persistence, and degree completion.

We know it can sometimes be difficult navigating a new university, discovering and utilizing the resources you need to help you on your academic journey and path towards student success. It can feel frustrating not knowing where to go and who to talk to when questions come up, or simply finding someone to chat with in your community about what you’re experiencing.

What if you could connect to another student who may have navigated similar circumstances when they started at PSU? A peer who can guide you to the appropriate resources and places on campus and online that you are looking for?

Send us an email at trsrc@pdx.edu to connect with our Peer Connection Specialist.

A native Oregonian from Hillsboro, Kieran (he/him) is a transfer from Portland Community College’s Rock Creek Campus and a junior Marketing major in the School of Business at Portland State University (PSU). Kieran is also a Peer Mentor for University Studies and Peer Ambassador for the School of Business.

What advice would you give to current or incoming transfer students?
College can be scary and lonely at times, so I love to be a resource for my peers to help navigate that space. Take the offered classes at the TRSRC. It has so much information and can help you get an understanding of how the campus works. Also take advantage of all the resources available to you. I haven't met a single person who wasn't willing to help me. My experience so far at PSU has been hugely positive.

In his spare time, Kieran enjoys going to the gym, a coffee shop, or exploring various restaurants with friends.
