Advising & FAQ

Students must declare the major upon admission to the university, in order to register for lower division requirements in the major. Students must apply to be admitted to upper division standing in the major near/at completion of 90 credits and lower division requirements in the major (upper division admission standards include a minimum GPA of 2.5 GPA overall).

Advising is required of all majors. Freshmen are urged to contact the FPA Advisors before the end of winter term, to ensure they can register for Sophomore year.  Newly declared majors and transfer students are urged to contact the department office (127LH) no later than the end of the second term in the major to complete an advising appointment. The advising appointment is required for enrollment in many courses, including admission to upper division in the major. Please refer to the 2011 Film Advising Update and the Theatre Advising Update.
