Portland State University faculty conduct leading-edge research and teaching on issues critical to the Pacific Northwest and beyond, including sustainable urban communities, climate change, ecosystem services, and renewable energy.

Here at PSU, sustainability is not confined to a single department or discipline. Every student has an opportunity to graduate with a thorough understanding of the complex and interconnected issues underpinning sustainability. Faculty work across traditional boundaries to bring multiple perspectives to real-world problems.

Led by Robert Costanza, the Institute for Sustainable Solutions serves as a hub for work across campus and throughout the region.
