PSU Recycles!

PSU Recycles! is a team within Facilities & Planning that services over 50 buildings on the Portland State University campus, staffs the PSU ReUse Room, champions initiatives to reduce landfill garbage such as Chuck It For Charity and RecycleMania and offers support for Zero Waste event hosting and PSU Office Green Teams.

PSU Recycles! is dedicated to creating a sustainable campus by reducing waste, expanding recycling opportunities, and increasing campus recycling and composting rates.  During 2009, PSU Recycles! was responsile for diverting over 527 tons of paper, plastic and metal; 29 tons of glass and 242 tons of other materials such as landscape debris and food waste from landfilling.

It's All in the Hall!

PSU ReUses! collects and redistributes gently used, surplus office supplies for free that would otherwise be recycled or thrown out. The PSU ReUse Room is located in Cramer Hall Rm. 180, and is open from 10:00-2:00 Monday through Thursday.

The Sustainability Volunteer Program

The Sustainability Leadership Center and PSU Recycles! are proud to announce the launch of the Sustainability Volunteer Program! The mission of this program is to create a formalized structure for sustainability volunteer opportunities on campus. By committing to a term, students will learn about campus sustainability initiatives and will be trained in the various volunteer positions. The program is designed to benefit both students who are new to sustainability and those who are currently involved. Volunteers will be provided with a foundation of knowledge and experience for seeking further leadership opportunities at Portland State and beyond. The Sustainability Volunteer Program seeks to make this leadership opportunity both educational and fun. Students will be introduced to the growing sustainability community at Portland State.

Submit a Work Order Request

Submit a work order request and we will help you with the following:

Recycling Containers:  Have new employees arrived?  If new employees need deskside recycling boxes, or your office could use a main area recycling station, place a work request for PSU Recycles! We have the same boxes that the City of Portland offers.

Special Events Recycling: Is your group hosting a special event? Would you like to have recycling containers at your event? PSU Recycles! can make it easy to recycle.

NEW! Compost Services at PSU: If you are hosting an event where food will be served, allow us to help. PSU Recycles! can provide clean compost containers, tailored signs and support to help you create a Zero Waste event.

Office Clean-Out/Move-Out: If someone or several people in your department are moving or cleaning out offices, PSU Recycles! can provide you with recycling receptacles BEFORE you get started.

NOTE: Please indicate the exact quantity of toner cartridges (minimum of three) for pick-up in work order requests.

Mission
