Climate Action Plan
Portland State University is one of more than 685 signatories to the American College & University Presidents Climate Commitment (ACUPCC). A major component of this commitment is to develop and submit a campus-wide plan for achieving carbon neutrality.
On May 24th, 2010, PSU President Wim Wiewel signed the Climate Action Plan (CAP).
PSU has formed the Climate Action Plan Implementation Team (CAP-IT), an advisory body to the Campus Sustainability Office, to oversee implementation of strategies to meet the goals contained in the 2010 CAP. Strategies may include a range of activities that result in greenhouse gas reductions in building energy use, materials consumption, travel, and transportation. The CAP-IT sets priorities and interim goals, establishes metrics to track project performance, creates and manages financing strategies, distributes funds, evaluates effectiveness of strategies, lobbies for institutional buy-in of strategies, and informs annual progress reporting.
The final draft of PSU's 2010 Climate Action Plan is available for public viewing and comment. The CAP is meant to be a living document that will be updated to adequately reflect the current, on-the-ground realities at PSU. If you have comments or questions, please contact greencampus@pdx.edu.
