Projects
Portland State University's Sustainability Group is working on a number of ongoing projects involving new construction, building retrofits, student group campaigns, renewable energy installations, utilities management, and developing environmental reports.
This checklist is for students interested in working with the Sustainability group on a construction and/or art installation project.

Paper Taskforce
The Sustainability Group is collaborating with student groups and various offices at PSU to transition the University to purchasing 100% post consumer waste paper. Find out more about the Paper Taskforce
Cramer Solar Array
In 2008, a 7 kilowatt solar array will be installed on the rooftop of Cramer Hall. The array will feature photovoltaics of varying capacities and sizes, and will be used as a research site to study the performance of different photovoltaics in various weather conditions.
New Recreation Center
The new student and community recreation center is being constructed to meet LEED Silver green building certification standards, and will feature a public bike station facility similar to a bikestation. Stay tuned for updates as this project progresses.
Shattuck Hall Improvements
Things are looking up for Shattuck Hall, a major rennovation using LEED Silver green building standards.
Greenhouses
Portland State University has received LEED Silver certification. This is the first greenhouse to ever receive certification.
Renewable Energy Management Plan
The Sustainability Group is currently working with student groups, ASPSU, and the Oregon University System to develop a plan for meeting Governor Kulongoski's Renewable Energy Directive, which stipulates that all state-funded entities must be powered by 100% renewable energy by 2010.
Environmental Assessments
The Sustainability Group has just completed environmental assessments with nearly 200 offices across the PSU campus, and is in the process of developing a comprehensive environmental report based on the assessment results. Check back soon, as copies of the report will be available for download upon completion.
Wind Turbines
The Sustainability Group is partnering with Oregon Wind Corporation to establish a test site for a vertical-axis wind turbine that they have developed. To view the company's website follow this link to Oregon Wind
