Chuck It For Charity!

When: Friday, June 15th from 10am-6pm
Where: Donation stations will be set up in Ondine lobby and the grassy lot next to Science Building 2.

Chuck It For Charity is one way PSU Recycles! is working hard to reduce waste on campus. Each spring students moving out of residence halls have lots of items they no longer want or need. Instead of contributing to the landfill, students have the opportunity to Chuck It For Charity! We collect reusable household items, furniture, and clothes and donate them to the Salvation Army.

The following items are collected:

  • Furniture: Clean mattresses and box springs, dressers, kitchen tables and chairs, sofa's, loveseats, recliners, coffee tables, end tables, bookshelves.
  • Kitchenware: Pots, pans, mixing bowls, dishes and dish racks, glassware, silverware, toasters, coffee makers, blenders, mixers and microwave ovens.
  • Small Appliances: Lamps, clocks, radios, televisions, irons, vacuum cleaners, phones, fans and space heaters.
  • Basic Household Items: Sheets, blankets, towels, area rugs, ironing boards, mirrors, mops, brooms, laundry baskets, non-perishable food items and clothing.
In 2006, CIFC collected over 4,200 lbs of reusable household items impacting an estimated 50 families in need in the Portland area.
