- City of Portland Summer Internship - The Sustainable Procurement Program in the City of Portland's Bureau of
Purchases is looking to hire a summer intern to help with a variety of
projects - including research, case study development, creation of employee
education/outreach materials, etc.
Portland's sustainable procurement program is recognized as a national
leader -- this is a great opportunity for an intern to help further that
effort!
Please see the following announcement for more information -- $14 per hour,
about 10 weeks (flexible). Applications are due May 30, 2008.
- The Art of Living Foundation Summer Internship - The Art of Living Foundation is offering an internship, titled Deepening Roots, Broadening Vision, with the purpose of cultivating young leaders who will influence policy, implement practical solutions and inspire their generation towards a sustainable future. The main focuses are sustainable living, organic gardening & permaculture, and leadership development. The location will be the Art of Living Center in St. Mathieu de Parc, Quebec, Canada from May 22 to July 6, 2008.
The internship features the Art of Living Foundation's renowned Youth Leadership Training Program, which has inspired thousands of youths towards humanitarian service and provided them with lifelong tools for social engagement. We will complement our leadership training with hands-on learning of sustainable farming and other related practices in our 1 ½ acre garden, which will be a relief for those too often expected to learn in classrooms without practical opportunities to apply information. We will cover a wide array of topics during our six weeks, including soil science, botany, urban gardening, and global issues related to sustainability. Permaculture expert Dave Jacke, author of Edible Forest Gardens Volume 1&2, will be coming to teach a six day-course.
An informational pamphlet describing the internship can be found here. For more information, a video about last year's internship, or to apply, go to http://www.artofliving.ca/deepeningroots.
