2012 PORTLAND STATE UNIVERSITY STUDENT AWARDS

COMMENDATION AWARD

The Commendation Award is an honor conferred on students who have excelled academically, maintained a cumulative undergraduate GPA of at least 3.50 or graduate GPA of 3.75 and who have engaged in additional successful scholarly activities. Nominated students must have completed at least one credit during the current academic year. Nominees must graduate in the current academic year (Fall 2011-Summer 2012).

PRESIDENT’S AWARD FOR OUTSTANDING COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT

The President’s Award for Outstanding Community Engagement is an honor conferred annually to a maximum of 12 students with junior, senior, post-baccalaureate, or graduate status who have engaged in an ongoing community service effort off campus, who have maintained a cumulative GPA of at least 2.5, and who are not a previous recipient of this award.

PRESIDENT’S AWARD FOR OUTSTANDING UNIVERSITY SERVICE

The President’s Award for Outstanding University Service is an honor conferred annually to a maximum of 12 students with junior, senior, post-baccalaureate, or graduate status who have engaged in an effort to enhance the student experience at PSU, who have maintained a cumulative GPA of at least 2.5, and who are not a previous recipient of this award.

To nominate a student for one of the awards listed above, please submit, via email to outreach@pdx.edu, the following items in one PDF or Word document (incomplete application packets will not be considered):

1. Letter of recommendation: Please indicate for which award(s) you are nominating your student. You may nominate your student for one, two, or all three awards.  Please reflect on why the nominee qualifies for the particular award(s) in your letter of recommendation.
