Meet Ritesh Turakhia

Ritesh Turakhia, 2006-2007 Maseeh Fellow

Ph.D. student Ritesh Turakhia completed his master's degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Colorado State University (CSU), Fort Collins, CO and his bachelor's degree in electronics engineering from Devi Ahilya Viswa Vidhyalaya (D.A.V.V), Indore, India. He discovered Portland State University (PSU) because of its connection to LSI Logic Corporation, where he interned following his master's degree. It was there that he met and worked with Prof. Rob Daasch, who eventually became his advisor.

Ritesh's dissertation research focuses on developing novel test methodologies and statistical test analysis for defect identification and screening to ensure quality and reliability of integrated circuits. His Ph.D. minor is physics, and he has briefly worked with Prof. Jun Jiao, director of PSU's recently dedicated Center for Electron Microscopy and Nanofabrication.

Initially, Ritesh was apprehensive about being in an urban setting, but the close collaboration to industry, practical perspective, and supportive faculty convinced him that Portland State was the best choice for him.

Ritesh has been an IEEE member since 2003. He was recently awarded his first U.S. patent, Method of screening asic defects using independent component analysis of quiescent current measurements. He also received an Honorable Mention award at the International Test Conference in November 2005 for co-authoring the paper, In Search of the Optimum Test-Set-Adaptive Test Methods for Maximum Defect Coverage and Lowest Cost.

A member of the PSU Tennis Club, Ritesh finds the game a great break from doing research. He also likes to hike, travel, and curl up with a good book.
