Learn-at-lunch

The learn-at-lunch series is a collaborative enterprise between the Student Affairs Assessment Council and the Employee Learning Group. The learn-at-lunch program provides an opportunity for peer-to-peer sharing and education. We can learn so much from the expertise of our colleagues. It is scheduled during the lunch hour, so that participants can bring their lunches and share and learn while they eat. The training is less formal and less structured than other educational opportunities but touches on topics that are of interest to all participants.

Location. Gatherings will be held in the UASC conference room. Adjustments to location will be made as needed.

Dates and times: The first meeting date is March 16th in the UASC conference room (425 Smith). Subsequest meeting will be held on the 3rd Friday of the month fiform 12-1. Room location will vary, so please check back for location.

Briefing Book

The Briefing Book (BB) is our new annual report portfolio located in Google sites. Please use your Odin username and password to login.

The purposes of the BB are to

  •  report and keep a history of the division and each department.
  • understand how you are connected to the whole i.e., what each department is doing and how we are connected so that we may learn  about possible connections and establish collaborations.
  •  clearly see how the division is structured.
  • be p ublic: able to link the book (and your section) to your website, e-mail out link.
  • be more sustainable by reducing our paper usage.
  • simplify reporting so that we share those things related to our goals. The BB is NOT meant to be a place to share everything you do.  Budget reports, assessment reports, brochures, strategic plans, etc are important, but should be put on your website and stored in other places.

These are the things you will need to put in the BB.

  •  Lists: Conferences, Committees, Professional Development.  These are listed at the bottom on the left horizontal navigation bar
  •  Dept page: Mission, vision, values, history, funding, highlights of current year
  •  Review of previous year's goals.  You are asked to report on status of that goal and tasks
  •  Future goals: 5-year vision, next year’s goal, what you need
  • Department outcomes, including both  program and learning outcomes. Hint: the Key Performance Indicators in Student Voice fit perfectly into the table.
  •  Staff:  List all of your professional staff, but do not  include students’ names.
