PSU History

I was recruited to PSU as the Duncan & Cindy Campbell Professor in 2006. I started the Summer Institute on Youth Mentoring in 2007 and the Center for Interdisciplinary Mentoring Research in 2010. I have been Co-Investigator of BUILD EXITO since 2013.

Experience

Before coming to PSU, I was on the faculty of the School of Social Service Administration at the University of Chicago. Prior to earning my Ph.D. at the University of Washington, I worked for several years with a Big Brothers Big Sisters agency in Seattle/King County as a caseworker, supervisor, and program director.

Academic/Research Interests

My research interests include the development and influence of youth mentoring relationships, social networks in mentoring interventions, evaluation of mentoring program innovations and enhancements, the professional development of program staff, and the mentoring of undergraduates in science, biomedical, and health fields.
