The Master of Social Work-Distance Option (M.S.W. - DO) degree program is designed to prepare graduates for entry into advanced professional practice in social work. The M.S.W. Distance Option delivers onsite instruction, technology-based learning, and field practice in or near students' local communities through a range of human service organizations. The Distance Option is a 3-year, 78-credit program which begins in fall term only. New cohorts begin every two or three years, depending on the site. The curriculum follows a foundation of courses in Diversity and Social Justice, Social Welfare Policy and Services, Human Behavior in the Social Environment, Social Work Research, and Generalist Social Work Practice and Advanced Social Work Practice. Coursework is designed to prepare students to work effectively with our increasingly diverse communities.
