M.S.W. Distance Option - Salem Site

While only an hour's drive from our main campus, the Salem Distance Option offers students in the Mid Valley area a chance to have a predictable schedule for three years and to shorten her/his travel time to/from classes in the second and third years.

Classes during the first year of the program are on the main PSU campus in Portland four times each school term on Fridays from 1 pm-9 pm and Saturdays 9 am-5 pm.

Classes during the second and third years are held at the Chemeketa Center for Business and Industry in Salem every Friday, generally from 8:30 am-4 pm. The majority of the coursework is taught by PSU School of Social Work faculty.

Field placements during the second and third years complete the program. Students work with the Site Coordinator to choose frm existing sites in their home community, or to help identify new sites for development, when possible. Most placements can be made in or near the students' home community.
