Profile

Where do ecology, evolution, and public health intersect? Biology professor Pamela Yeh studies how human activities affect the evolution of species. Working with a team of students in the Yeh Lab, she is linking the effects of urbanization to avian evolution, and hospital and agricultural antibiotic use to drug-resistant bacteria. Her research suggests how the prevalence of drug-resistant bacteria may be diminished by promoting species diversity in urban environments.
Yeh received her BA in Biology from Harvard-Radcliffe Colleges, her PhD in Evolutionary Biology from University of California at San Diego, and conducted post-doctoral work in the Center for Genomics Research at Harvard University and the Systems Biology Department at Harvard Medical School. She has been at Portland State University since December 2009, and is a Fellow of the PSU Institute for Sustainable Solutions. Read more >
