The School of Business Administration chapters of Net Impact and Women's Networking Group joined forces to take their message of social responsibility outside the classroom this weekend. Portland State business students logged a over 200 hours on April 9, 10 and 11 helping Habitat for Humanity International in its mission to build simple, decent and affordable homes for Portland families in need.

"It was gratifying to see so many students from the different PSU MBA cohorts volunteering a day of their time to help build houses for people in need," said Mark Langston, MBA+ student and one of the event's organizers. "It was a great reminder of how important it is to stay connected with our community, and the ways that we can help further social responsibility through our actions. My hope is that this is just one small step towards many similar events for the MBA program."
With the efforts of the Net Impact Chapter, Portland State's School of Business students are undertaking this project in conjunction with TeamMBA (www.gmac.com/teammba), a global initiative to encourage business school students, staff, faculty, and alumni to become involved in their communities. Since TeamMBA was launched by the Graduate Management Admission Council® (GMAC®) in 2005, thousands of students, staff, and faculty from scores of schools have donated thousands of volunteer hours and raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for charities and community organizations. GMAC is an international nonprofit association of leading business schools and sponsor of the Graduate Management Admission Test® (GMAT®).
