Standing Quarter Credits Earned
Freshman 1-44
Sophomore 45-89
(90+ credits = upper division)
Junior 90-134
Senior 135+
Postbac grad or undergrad holds a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.

Registration Deadlines

Each term there are deadlines related to adding and dropping classes, making grading option changes, withdrawing from classes, and tuition refunds. It's important for students to be aware of these deadlines as they affect student financial obligations and how courses are recorded on Portland State University transcripts.

In general, classes may be added online during the first week of the term. During weeks two through four courses may be added with instructor permission. Classes may be dropped during the first four weeks of the term without being recorded on Portland State transcripts. Withdrawing from classes during the fifth week of a term does not require instructor permission, but the withdrawn courses are recorded on Portland State transcripts as "W" grades. During the sixth through eighth weeks of a term, withdrawing from classes requires instructor permission and withdrawn courses are recorded on Portland State transcripts as "W" grades. Grading option changes may be made during the first seven weeks of a term. For details, see the Academic Calendar.
