Olson-Chatalas graduated with a Bachelor of Music from Baylor
University in Waco,
Texas with honors and continued her education
by receiving her Master of Music Degree in Opera and Vocal Pedagogy from the University of Texas
at Austin.
While at University
of Texas she studied under
the tutelage of the famous Swiss director and conductor Walter DuCloux who
eventually was the founder and director of the thriving Austin Lyric Opera.
Nancy Olson-Chatalas brings to the music faculty of Portland State
University years of
diversified performance experiences, as well as her skill in her teaching. She
also offers a sense of collegiality and collaboration. Her positive support and
depth of knowledge and experience to the students enrolled in the program is
well appreciated.
