Xiaowei "Luke" Zhu serves as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical and Materials Engineering at Portland State University. He earned his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from The University of Texas at Dallas in 2018. Prior to his appointment at PSU starting in 2022, Dr. Zhu worked as a postdoctoral fellowship at both Johns Hopkins University and Princeton University.

Dr. Zhu is deeply engrossed in the field of turbulence, leveraging Computational Fluid Dynamics as his main investigative tool. His research direction encompass: heat transfer and air pollutant dispersion in urban environments,  bio-inspired strategies for turbulent drag reduction, and the dynamics of large wind farms.
