- Christina Hulbe is an Associate Professor of Geology at Portland State University. She is a geophysicist who specializes in glaciology, using computer simulations of glacial systems to study how and why they change over time. Christina received her MS in Geology at Ohio State University and her PhD in Geophysics at the University of Chicago. While her start in glaciology was doing field work in Alaska and Antarctica, working as a research scientist at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center inspired Christina to fold a broad range of satellite-based observations into her work. Her current projects emphasize both glaciolgical records of past events and the development of models used to interpret modern observations and, eventually, to inform studies aimed at projecting future change. These studies include analysis and simulation of marine ice sheet retreat processes, fracture mechanics in floating ice, and the response of glacier ice to climate warming on the Antarctic Peninsula.
