In addition to the annual population estimates, we also monitor city annexations on quarterly basis. The quarters end December 31, March 31, June 30 and September 30. When an annexation has been approved, we receive the notification from the office of the Secretary of State. We then send out an annexation questionnaire to city officials to find out the number of residential housing units and population, if any, involved in the annexation. Annexed population is added to the previously certified population and these certified supplements are sent to the Secretary of State's office and used by the State of Oregon in the quarterly distribution of previously collected revenue.

If an annexation involves 200 or more housing units, a census or survey must be done by the PRC or by the city with PRC's supervision.
