Transfer Students

Orientation will be your next step toward becoming a part of the Portland State University community.

Our statistics show that transfer students who attend Orientation have a higher grade-point average at the end of their first term of study. Because we believe Orientation is critical to your success, all transfer students must attend an Orientation: Advising and Registration session before registering for classes for your first term.

Orientation: Advising and Registration Sessions

Multiple sessions are offered every quarter for students beginning the following quarter and we ask you to make this a priority. We take into consideration the fact that you have attended college previously and facilitate a program that will assist with your transition into our learning community. This is typically your first opportunity to meet with an academic adviser to select and register for your first term classes. You will also begin to develop your PSU network that will support your continued academic success. It is best to attend the earliest available session to ensure that you get the best selection of classes that satisfy your combination of interests and scheduling needs.
