Spring Orientation: Advising and Registration Information

Orientation: Advising and Registration is a pivotal step in preparing you for spring term. We want to be sure that you are familiar with our academic expectations and ready to join the academic community. Students who do not attend an Advising and Registration session will not be able to register for courses and may need to update their admission to a future term.
If you have any additional questions about Orientation, please feel free to contact us.
During your Advising and Registration session, you will:
- Plan your spring term schedule with an academic adviser and register for classes. Your initial academic advising is done in a group format, in most cases. Individual questions are welcomed.
- Receive a free copy of the PSU course catalog and Student Handbook & Planner.
- Meet with departmental faculty or academic advisers to learn about the academic curriculum.
- Learn about campus resources and services available to support your academic success.
- Meet with current PSU students.
- Have your photo taken for your PSU ID card.
Orientation: Advising and Registration sessions:

Learn More about Orientation:
-
Prior to attending an Advising and Registration session, it is important that you review our Student Checklist. Think about this day like you would any class, if you have completed the reading before class, you're likely to gain more from your experience and feel more engaged with the learning process. Prior to Orientation, you must have created your PSU computing account (see above).
For the Orientation session itself, you should bring:- an umbrella or rain jacket in the event of inclement weather,
- a form of government issued identification in order to have your photo taken for your PSU ID card.
- transfer evaluation and DARS report (see Evaluation of transfer credits)
-
Transfer Evaluation: If you provided PSU with college transcripts reflecting the completion of prior coursework, you must bring a copy of your Transfer Evaluation Report with you to your Advising and Registration Day. You should have received this report with your letter of admission to PSU. If you do not have your report, you must contact us at least 48 hours in advance of your confirmed session to request a copy.
DARS Report: Go to https://my.pdx.edu/ site and run a DARS audit that reflects requirements specific to your college, major, degree and catalog year. You may run a DARS audit as often as you like; please bring a current copy to your Orientation Session in addition to the Transfer Evaluation. View an online "how-to" tutorial at: http://www.pdx.edu/registration/dars -
