Orientation for Prior Terms
If you missed an Orientation session and were admitted to Portland State University for a previous term, you
may find the following information helpful:
- Purchase a copy of the quarterly Schedule of Classes (
PSU Bookstore) or access it online;
- Purchase a copy of the Portland State University Bulletin (
PSU Bookstore) or access it online;
- Review the information on the academic advising web page in
order to begin to understand your academic requirements and then plan to meet with an academic adviser in the
Information and Academic Support Center (IASC) where advising is
available on both a drop-in basis and by appointment. Call (503) 725-4005 for drop-in schedule or appointment.
*(Advisers will also help Transfer Students understand their Transfer Evaluation that you
received with your letter of admission)
- You might also need to connect directly with an adviser in the department in which you intend to major.
Click here for a list of departments. Keep in mind however that there are
academic requirements in addition to those required by your major that you must complete to graduate
from Portland State University.
- Once you have identified the courses for which you hope to register for Winter quarter, you may
register for classes on the web or in person by completing a Special
Registration Form and submitting it to the Registration Office in the lobby of
Neuberger Hall.
In addition to registering for classes, there are a number of other items that you may need to satisfy in preparation for
the start of the next quarter:
- Submit outstanding paperwork - including, but not limited to:
You must be registered for classes for the appropriate term before you may complete the following:
- Reserve Parking Permit (if needed) via
Student Info System approximately one month prior to the start of
the term.
- Pick-up Tri-Met pass(if needed) at
a discount to PSU students (available in Neuberger Hall Lobby or Urban Center).
- Purchase textbooks at the PSU Bookstore
(ask the bookstore when textbooks go on sale for a particular term).
- Obtain PSU ID Card in Neuberger Hall Lobby ($6) after you have registered for classes.
- Set-up ODIN account (PSU email/technology).
- Pay Tuition & Fees (due the 10th of the first month of the term) -
